Summer Program at the University of Oregon

Next Generation Storytelling empowers high school students to develop their critical thinking, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills while building stronger voices as effective communicators at the University of Oregon. With a focus on emerging technology and media, students will participate in hands-on courses with faculty experts that challenge them to explore new practices in advertising, journalism, public relations, and media studies. 

High school students entering grades 10, 11, and 12 during the 2019-20 academic school year are eligible to apply. Priority applications are due February 22., final applications are due in May. 

Scholarship applications are open until February 22 as well, Students must complete both applications (program & scholarship) to be eligible for a scholarship.

The program runs June 23 - 28, 2019.

Tuition is $950. Students will select two of seven course offerings (Smartphone Videography, Sports Journalism, Creative Non-fiction Writing, Public Speaking, Making a Podcast, Intro to Advertising, Profile Writing) and earn an elective journalism credit from the University of Oregon. Room, board, and local transportation (field trips and to and from the Eugene airport or train station) are included in the cost of the program.
