The Arkansas Scholastic Press Association relies on the hard work of volunteer members to accomplish its mission. Whether you have just joined ASPA or are a veteran of our organization, there are always opportunities to become more involved in the scholastic journalism field on a state level.

Volunteer your time and expertise through committees, programs and publications. Complete this short form to indicate your interest in serving ASPA.

Other ways to support and grow the scholastic journalism community:

  • Get certified through JEA. Certified journalism educators show a commitment to the profession by having national credence given to the work they've accomplished.

  • Attend a state convention or the ASPA Advisers Summer Workshop. The value of face-to-face collaboration and networking can't be overstated, and the training and resources gained from attending conferences are unmatched. You can also volunteer to speak if you have the knowledge to share with students or other teachers.

  • Serve on the ASPA leadership team. ASPA holds elections every two years, and you can express your interest by contacting the executive director.

  • Donate to ASPA. You can designate your donated amount to a specific fund or as a tribute to honor the memory of someone.

ASPA is committed to serving its members and helping navigate the challenges of an ever-adapting newsroom, but we are stronger together. For more information on how to get involved, please email us at media@arkansasscholasticpressassociation.org.
