Dr. William David Downs Jr. Scholarship

The Arkansas Scholastic Press Association, ASPA awards the Dr. William David Downs Jr. Scholarship in honor of the former ASPA director and late Dr. William D. Downs Jr. This scholarship is a one-time, $500 scholarship that will be awarded to a student who will attend a public or private college or university and major in journalism, broadcast or film. Other related fields of study may be awarded at the scholarship committee's discretion.

The scholarship recipient will be announced at the 2024 ASPA State Convention in Little Rock on April 25, 2024. A check for the scholarship will be sent directly to the college or university upon proof of enrollment by the recipient.

WALTER J. LEMKE FRESHMAN ENDOWED JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP

The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences (University of Arkansas) awards the Walter J. Lemke Freshman Endowed Journalism Scholarship to an incoming first-year student majoring in journalism. Preference is given to those who have volunteered on their high school yearbook, newspaper, or other publication staff or those who have contributed original features valuable to those publications.
